In 2013 Facebook will have 1 billion users
According to eMarketer, by the end of this year the number of users of the social networks will reach 1,5 billion. In December 2011 this number was a little bit more than 1,2 billion. Herewith, by the end of the year the number of users of the social networks will grow to 19,2%. In the next years the speed of growth will become slower because of the market development.
According to the experts, the largest region by the number of users of the social networks is Asian-Pacific region – 615,9 million people. Almost the half of them are users from China. In Russia by the end of the year will be 57,9 million Internet users, in 2014 their number will grow to 69,3 million, as specialists predict.

The largest share of Internet users in percent from the total number of population is in the USA - 49,9%. The next are Canada (49,3%), South Korea (46,6%), Australia (44,4%), Russia (41,9%). The quickest growth of the social networks this year is expected in India and Indonesia.
Facebook is still the largest social network in the world. Following forecasts of eMarketer, by the end of 2013 its audience will be more than 1 billion users. Experts predict that the number of Facebook users in Russia will significantly grow (to 62% by the end of 2012; in October 2011 it was 20,4%). So, if the predictions come true, this year Facebook will overtake «vkontakte» and leave behind other Russian social networks.
